TATSU AOKI’S ROOTED: ORIGINS OF NOW is a musical chronicle of an Asian immigrant’s adventures
in the United States. While this four-part narrative is a personal story, it carries universal emotional
force. Commissioned by the Jazz Indstitute of Chicago, it was performed during the 2001 Chicago Jazz Festival.
